Chapter 8- crime and punishment
At 6:00 am George and Harold woke up and went to Mr. Krupp’s house and started washing his car. While Harold cleaned the car, George was pulling the weeds out of the yard. Then, they cleaned the gutter and washed the windows.
At school, they sit straight and listen to what the teacher is saying. They neither cracked jokes nor pulled any pranks. They didn’t even smile! The teacher couldn’t believe it.
At lunch, they cleaned Mr. Krupp’s office shined his, and so on. Each spare moment in the boys’ daily schedule was spent on Mr. Krupp’s every whim.
After school, they mowed his lawn tended the garden, and painted the front of his house. Before they could go to their house Mr. Krupp handed them a stack of books and said that he asked their teachers to give them extra homework and he said to go home and study hard and come the next morning. They walked home dead tired.
George said that this day was the worst day of his entire life. Harold consoled him and said that they just had to do that for eight more years, and then they could move away to some far-off land where no one in their school would ever find them. George said that he had a better idea.
He took a piece of paper out of his pocket. It was an old magazine ad for the 3-D Hypno-Ring. He said that they had to hypnotize Mr. Krupp and make him forget the whole mess and also to get that videotape. Harold said that it was a great idea and the best part was they only had to wait for four to six weeks for delivery.
